Motivated

As a Product Manager and as a Developer, I love designing solutions that address actual problems and make the lives of my users easier. As a manager, I try to empower people to be actors of what they do.

Engaged

From the start of my career, I have been appreciated for my dedication to work. I try to do my job as best as possible, take initiatives, and can be very passionate about what I am doing.

Polymorph

I have a strong ability to structure projects and to intervene where needed. This is why, working for a company that grew from 40 to 120 people, I have successively been Software Developer, Team and Product Manager.

Ready for the next challenge!

It is exciting to see that there is always something new to learn or discover in this world! I am always interested to consider opportunities compatible with my skills and aspirations.

As a Product Manager, I listen to and promote the voice of the customer within my teams. It is instrumental to balance constraints and release the right product at the right time.

On a daily basis, I am an orchestrator. I put in music sales representatives, user experience, development, test and marketing to build a consistent product with a clear vision that is shared by all stakeholders.

Product Management is a school of compromises. I constantly need to consider timing, technical complexity and resource limitations to deliver the best possible product that solves actual issues for our customers.

I see management as the art of maintaining an environment where each project member can deliver the best and actively contribute to a common realization.

This drove me to investigate and put in place agile methods in the teams I lead. I no longer had to micro-manage people. They were collectively responsible for the outcome and I could focus on addressing the difficulties they were facing.

Management is tough. There are difficult decisions to push and complex human interactions to understand. But it can be incredibly rewarding when it creates a winning spirit, empowering people to move to the next level.

Capacities

Listening skills

Software development is a long-standing passion. When experimenting with my graphing calculator in highschool or learning C++ on my own, I did not imagine I would pursue this way and make it part of my day job.

I love the creative aspects of programming, how I picture a desired outcome, progressively figure out the steps to build it and the key moment where everything falls in place.

Whether as a Team or Product Manager, at home or at work, I like trying a few ideas and understand the code my team is working on. This helps me “feel” the difficulties and potential impacts on our planning.

My English teacher in Shanghai once asked me what “home” meant to me. I simply answered that it was the place where I felt comfortable living. A few years later, I would add “… with my wife and kids”.

Passionnate about languages and cultures, I can feel myself at home in various locations. I married a Chinese woman and considered from the very start our family to be international.

I had the chance to travel a lot during my childhood. From this experience, I understood that I have a lot to learn, very few lessons to give, and that I should never underestimate cultural differences, as they are the cause of many misunderstandings.

Interests

I have to admit: I am curious, always eager to learn about the world around me!
Here are some topics that particularly matter to me.

Chinese language and culture

I discovered Chinese in highschool and fell in love with it. Its grammar was logical. We could still decipher its characters in the 21st century, although they came from the dawn of time. And it opened the doors of a rich and complex civilization I was craving to understand!

I studied and lived in China for more than two years, and travel back there every year.

I am maintaining a website (in French) where I talk about this passion.

Space and aeronautics

Since I was a kid, I have been reading everything about airplanes, rockets and spacecrafts. I took flying lessons, from which I keep fantastic memories. One day, I would contribute to this great adventure, and even fly to space!

Traveling the sky, exploring the marvels of the cosmos... We are living exciting times. Private space companies and reusable launchers are the new revolution. We are at a tiping point of our relationship with our space neighbourhood.

Travels

For me, travelling is not only discovering new places, languages and cultures. It is a way to put my certainties back into question. There is nothing like being in the position of the stranger to learn about oneself.

Within France or throughout the world, I had the chance to visit quite a few places, from which I learned a lot.

I also love week-end roadtrips with my family, driving, commenting and visiting at our own pace.

Vector and 3D graphics

I love the power of vector drawing. It is like sculpting a raw material. I can progress with successive refinements and simplifications to get "math perfect" shapes.

My personnal style focuses on simplicity and elegance. I favor clean lines and gradients, and avoid unneeded post-processing effects.

I recently started to expand these skills to the 3D space, very similar in principle. It opens exciting new possibilities.
